Authorship Agreement

Good afternoon, everyone--

As promised in class a few weeks ago, I'm attaching the draft authorship agreement for collaborative research.

Student-Student Authorship and Publication Agreement:

A co-authored manuscript (“Project”) will include collaborative writing, preparation, and submission by Fill in Author 1 and Fill in Author 2as part of a class assignment and in the hopes of achieving a publication.

The “Project” is tentatively entitled __________________________________________

1.     At this time the first author has been listed as Fill in Author 1 and the second author listed will be Fill in Author 2;

2.     Each author understands that there is an expectation that the Project will result in publication(s)/presentations(s).  Pursuant to this, the authors will jointly submit for publication within one year of completion of the Project.  Both authors need to be in agreement about the submission location and the time of submission;

3.     Both Fill in Author 1 and Fill in Author 2 will work on any required revisions as part of the publication process;

4.     Authorship:  Both authors will be listed for now and forever as authors on any and all manuscripts, presentations, publications, or representations of this Project or which uses components associated with this Project whenever submitted for publication/presentation or actually published/presented;

5.     Data produced during the Project will be jointly stored.  Access to the data will be shared by Fill in Author 1 and Fill in Author 2 but limited to the afore mentioned parties unless otherwise specified and agreed upon in the future. 

This Agreement may be executed and delivered by electronic means, in which case each copy will still be considered an original.
